A special gift for Sutherland Shire seniors this Christmas
It may take a very different form this year, but Sutherland Shire Council’s annual ‘Senior’s Christmas Concert’ will bring no less cheer to local seniors in 2020, with the ever popular event hoped to reach more residents than ever before.
As part of the 45th annual performance of this special seniors event, Council has opted to engage seniors directly via a ‘virtual’ Christmas concert, distributed to local aged care facilities and online via Council’s website.
The virtual Christmas concert will consist of performances by Engadine and Miranda Musical Societies and feature contributions of song and dance from Sylvania Heights Public School students.
With residents’ health and wellbeing at the forefront of the concert planning, Sutherland Shire Mayor Councillor Steve Simpson said the significance of this occasion is important in 2020.
“We can’t bring the seniors to us for a concert, but we can take the concert to them,” Mayor Simpson said. “The concert is a significant celebration in our senior’s annual calendar and demonstrates Council’s commitment and appreciation of our valued older residents.”
In previous years, the concert has traditionally been a ticketed event in late November, supported by volunteer Senior’s Reference Group members.
All Sutherland Shire residents now have the opportunity to watch the concert. View below.
