Do you like to have a chat? Do you like helping others? A friendly phone call or visit can go a long way towards making someone feel part of our community.
Council is working with community partners on a project to help tackle loneliness. We are calling on those who have some free time to volunteer as a ‘friend’ to provide company and conversation for Shire community members who are feeling left out.
If you’re caring, friendly and can volunteer to visit or make calls on a regular basis, then register online now as a ‘Befriending Volunteer’.
If you are interested in volunteering, the project is providing an Befriending Volunteer Information and Training Session. Registrations are essential.
Need to Connect?
The Sutherland Shire Loneliness Project aims to connect lonely and socially isolated older people with regular social contact. If you are feeling like you could do with a new friend in your life, be connected to Befriending support through your local community organisation.
All dates for Befriending Volunteer Information and Training Session
- 03 Oct from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM
