Join Colin Tatz and Marcia Ella-Duncan in discussing the sporting history revealed in Black Pearls: The Aboriginal and Islander Sports Hall of Fame by Colin and Paul Tatz.
Spanning 36 sports and 166 years, Black Pearls presents 261 of our sporting heroes—netballers, football giants, boxers, sprinters, darts champions and weightlifters. It is more than a sports book.
It reveals a history of inclusion and exclusion, about the determination of Aboriginal people in the face of enormous obstacles, and resilience in overcoming remoteness, discriminatory laws, incarceration on isolated reserves and opponents in a variety of sports arenas.
