Art on Paper Terms and Conditions

 

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

  • 1.Entries

Artists may enter up to three artworks in the 2019 Hazelhurst Art on Paper Award. The artist must submit a photo/image of each work entered accompanied by the Entry Form and fee by Monday 1 July 2019 at 5pm. All images must be JPEGS and must not exceed 5MB each in file size. Works must have been completed in the last two years.

  • 2.Medium

The 2019 Hazelhurst Art on Paper Award is open to original works on, or made principally with, paper – 2D, 3D or 4D is permissible. Acceptable disciplines in the category of Art On Paper include drawing, painting, watercolour, collage, printmaking, computer generated, photography, sculpture, installation and video.

  • 3.Selection of Works

A selection panel will view all visuals and select the finalists in the exhibition from all entries received. All works selected for hanging must remain on display for the duration of the exhibition. A list of finalists for this exhibition will be posted on the Hazelhurst website by 5pm Friday 2 August 2019.

  • 4.Judging

Prior to the exhibition opening a judge will view all works on display and select one entry for the major award of $15 000, sponsored by Tradies. From the remaining works the judges will also select one work for the Young and Early Career Artist Award of $5000 (aged 35yrs or under as of 01.01.19), sponsored by Tradies, and one work for the Local Artist Award of $5000 (Local Artist is defined as a local resident of the St George and Sutherland Shire districts), sponsored by The Friends of Hazelhurst. The decision of the judges will be final and no correspondence or discussion will be entered into.

  • 5.Entry Fee

The entry fee is $45 per art work (non refundable). A maximum of three works can be submitted per artist. All fees include GST.

  • 6.Sale of Works

All works exhibited in the 2019 Hazelhurst Art on Paper Award can be for sale unless marked NFS. No commission will be charged by Hazelhurst Arts Centre. Artists should be aware of their GST obligations and commitments to representing commercial galleries or agents prior to determining the sale price of their artworks and completing the entry form. If you require advice on this matter please call the Australian Taxation Office on 132 478. Prices listed on the entry form are considered final and will not be altered after submission.

  • 7.Preparation of Artworks

Works must be presented ready for exhibition i.e. mounted and framed (if necessary) with appropriate hanging devices attached or supplied (instructions if necessary). The artist’s name, address and phone number, title of work, and price or NFS must be clearly marked on the back of each work, and on the entry form.

  • 8.Transport and Insurance

Forward and return freight is the responsibility of the artist. All transit insurance, forward and return, is to be borne by the artist and Hazelhurst or Sutherland Shire Council accepts no liability for loss or damage during transit. Insurance whilst works are on exhibition will be covered by Hazelhurst Arts Centre.

  • 9.Receipt of Entries and Delivery Location

Works selected for the exhibition are to arrive between Monday 2 September and Friday 6 September 2019 from 10am until 4.00pm. The works are to be delivered to Hazelhurst Arts Centre, Cnr Talara Road and Kingsway Gymea. The loading dock is in Talara Road. Phone: 02 8536 5700

Hazelhurst reserves the right to further assess all works delivered and make a final selection for the exhibition. If a work is rejected at this stage it will be returned to the artist at the Hazelhurst’s expense.

  • 10.Collection of Exhibited Works

Artists must collect their works between Monday 25 November and Friday 29 November 2019 between 10am and 4pm. Works not collected within 14 days of [final collection day] shall be disposed of at the discretion of Hazelhurst Arts Centre.

  • 11.Copyright

Hazelhurst Arts Centre reserves the right to photograph works exhibited in the 2019 Hazelhurst Art on Paper Award for the purposes of documentation and promotion.  All necessary acknowledgements of authorship will be duly made.

By entering the competition and accepting the terms and conditions artists agree that images can be broadcast via digital feeds or printed for physical events by Hazelhurst Arts Centre.

In consideration for Hazelhurst Arts Centre awarding the prize to the winners (including runners up), the winners give Hazelhurst Arts Centre non-exclusive rights to use their submitted image in promotional formats such as announcing the winners via Hazelhurst Arts Centre website, Facebook page, Twitter account and Instagram application and in subsequent competition promotions (with attribution). The winner will not be entitled to any fee for such use.

  • 12.Interpretation of the Rules

In the event of a dispute regarding the interpretation of the conditions, the decision of Hazelhurst Arts Centre shall be binding on all parties.
