A biopic of Frankenstein author Mary Shelly.

Mary Wollstonecraft's family disapproves when she and poet Percy Shelley announce their love and are horrified when they learn that the couple has eloped. Living in the home of Lord Byron at Lake Geneva, the guests are challenged to write a ghost story. Mary conceives her famous novel Frankenstein.  Director Haifaa al-Mansour, Saudi Arabia’s first woman filmmaker, focuses on the perspective of the women in the story, Mary and her step-sister Claire.

Director: Haifaa Al-Mansour. Stars: Elle Fanning, Maisie Williams, Douglas Booth. Duration: 120 minutes. Rated PG.

Films screen in the Hazelhurst theatrette every Monday at 6.30pm, Thursday at 11am & 2pm,  and Sunday at 2pm for members of the Hazelhurst Film Club.
