Peter & Paul In Print
22 Jun 2020 - 14 Jul 2020
Peter & Paul In Print presents the outcome of a first time partnership between Studio A and Hazelhurst Arts Centre.
Studio A provides professional development to artists with intellectual disability, forging relationships between like-minded professional artists and relevant art platforms.
Hazelhurst supported Studio A artist Peter Dudding to work alongside long-time collaborator artist Paul Williams to undertake a three month print-making residency in Hazelhurst’s print studio.
Master printmaker Matthew Ablitt guided the residency by introducing Peter and Paul to monoprinting and etching techniques that enabled them to adapt their painting and drawing practices. The outcome is a series of prints that capture the immediacy of mark making, intensity of colour and intuitive flare of line work that is typical of their individual styles.
The fluidity of painted monoprints and the resistance of the etched mark provided a way that was familiar yet new and offered fresh potentialities for energy to flow into an infinite sea of outcomes.
Reflecting on the residency Peter Dudding explained 'I liked printmaking and watching and learning about art making with Paul...My favourite song from the studio time was Morning Train by Sheena Easton'.
