Junko Asaba: Flexible
15 Jun 2019 - 25 Jun 2019
New work focused on cutting, folding, bending, squashing, tearing and gluing paper from magazines and newspapers to create unexpected beauty.
Art work requires flexibility to create new thought to open up firm ideas and visions. Through my art practice I continue to be reminded of the importance of flexibility. Paper is my preferred material for experimenting with flexibility, especially magazines and newspapers. The illustrations, colours and various typefaces provide with me endless ideas. After cutting, folding, bending, squashing, tearing and gluing these magazines and newspapers, I find an unexpected beauty.
