INTERCONNECTED: Visualising the ecology of the South Coast
13 Mar 2021 - 23 Mar 2021
The exhibition brings together the work of four South Coast-based artists who share an interest in responding to the natural world through their varied artistic practices.
Contemplating the threats to the natural ecologies of the Illawarra and Shoalhaven is the catalyst for the four artists in their creative inquiry, providing a diverse selection of work. The resulting work presents the individual artists’ exploration of themes that reflect different aspects of our human experience of landscape across painting, drawing, sound, writing and assemblage.
It is the intention of this exhibition to reflect on the natural ecologies of our region. Utilising different creative approaches to communicate concepts of rarity, function and importance of these endemic landscapes, as well as our human impact on them. This exhibition will be a celebration of the survival of these landscapes, while contemplating what the future holds.
As artists we intend that through messages of positivity people can engage and be inspired to understand and care for the diverse landscapes that are the ecological gems of our region.
