Volunteer Art Guides not only promote Hazelhurst Arts Centre and its exhibitions, but also bring their considerable knowledge and skills to assist children, adults, the disabled, the aged, community groups and societies, business and education groups; to enjoy and understand the artwork on exhibition.
The exhibition will be officially opened at 2pm Saturday 28th July by award-winning artist Michelle Cawthorn.
The artists, all of whom live in the Sutherland Shire, are Liz Donley, Margaret Lopez, Robyn Robinson, Peter Raue, Michael Warren (painting), Dior Mahnken, Jenny Curran (printmaking), Alison Duff, Glynis Pogson (photography), Bob James (quilting), Gail Sadlier (needlework and quilting), Robert Mander (sculpture and painting) and Mann Chow (ceramics).
Within the Hazelhurst volunteer art guides group are a number of practicing and emerging artists. All members of the group have such enthusiasm for art, be it in the role as a volunteer guide or exhibiting their art. While each guide has different experiences and skills, they all share a love of art said Hazelhurst Guide and artist, Liz Donley.
The art practices in the group are hugely diverse and will create a multi-disciplinary visual experience for this exhibition. There are a range of styles and medium shown from painting, sculpture, mixed media, printmaking, ceramics, decoupage, needlework and quilting.
The guides volunteer an enormous amount of time to Hazelhurst Arts Centre by guiding adult and children’s groups and schools through the regional gallery exhibitions, supporting Friends of Hazelhurst with fundraising and promoting the Hazelhurst Arts Centre.
