Bleached: Paradise Lost
My work is about the human impact on the environment and the devastation of anthropogenic climate change. When I was young my family often travelled to Queensland and the astounding beauty of the diverse and vibrant Great Barrier Reef was unforgettable. Regrettably, future generations will not experience the same reef because of the effects of climate change. 2016 saw the worst coral bleaching event in history on the Great Barrier Reef with 93% of corals affected by bleaching and 22% of the 2,300 kilometre reef killed. My work aims to emphasise the loss of a diverse and unique ecosystem.
