I have adopted the compositional style of Giorgio Morandi and taken a minimalist approach to the traditional still life, both in simplicity of form and colour. I wanted my work to be both utilitarian and elegant, to express ideas of purity and truth. The forms and the choice of glaze palette are a meeting of traditional Western and Eastern styles, a decision I came to through the process of making these pieces.
