Loud places
Drawing
Despite the silence that prevails within these abandoned buildings, the place is loud with history. Memories of the tragedies of Typhoon Haiyan 2013 remain vivid in the minds of those affected, and traces of the event are forever imprinted on these monumental walls. My work is not only a commemoration, but also aims to demonstrate the resilience of these communities, along with the beauty that has arisen out of the upheaval. Rather than using charcoal's soft and volatile qualities to create erratic works, I used the pigmented media to draw bold images, reflecting sturdiness and strength.
