This four day clay workshop will encourage throwing and trimming a number of types of flat ware in different forms and sizes.
We will explore a few different approaches to making flatware item, not all directly thrown on the potter’s wheel, but incorporating some hybrid hand-building/wheel-work approaches. This will allow potters with only beginner/intermediate skill levels to participate.
Emphasis will be placed on beauty as well as functional forms, and different styles of rims and finishes will be demonstrated.
The making of chucks and clay pads will be demonstrated, as will the designing and making of specific throwing tools.
Commercial clay will be supplied from Hazelhurst stock, Bisque firing is included.
Cost includes 2 bags of clay.
