Collagraph Printmaking Workshop

20 Jan 2021 - 22 Jan 2021

A two day workshop for beginners or experienced students who would like to explore the painterly approach of the collagraph medium of printmaking.

ENROL

Collagraphs are prints made from a collage base. Found objects, fabrics, textures and papers are glued on to a baseboard or ‘plate’ which can also be cut or incised and further developed with the application of modelling pastes. Once sealed, the plates can be inked in both intaglio and relief and printed using an etching press.

Effects can vary from delicate lines to painterly strokes depending on the materials chosen. Students will be shown a variety of printed collagraphs with corresponding plates and given an overview of techniques as used by professional artists. At least 3 plates will be made and printed in intaglio and relief.

Emphasis will be on experimentation, though a small edition could be printed.

Those with prior experience will be encouraged to work with mixed media, segmented plates and embossing.

Class Dates: Wednesday 20 January and Friday 22 January 2021 (note: no class on 21 January).    Cost: $267      Time: 10am - 4pm.
