Sculpture Workshop: Wrapped Fabric Forms
24 Mar 2019 - 24 Mar 2019
Work with artist Jane Gillings to create a sculpture with repurposed fabric.
10.30am - 12.30pm or 1.30pm - 3.30pm on Sunday 24 March 2019.
Cost: $10 per person.
Learn how to form a wire armature, build the form with old newspaper, then dress it up with fashionable fabrics. Why not bring that favourite item of clothing that no longer fits and upcycle it into a fantastic artwork?
Jane Gillings, is a Northern Beaches based artist who uses discarded plastic for assemblage art. She explores the concept of waste and has embraced her compulsion for hoarding to create works that resurrect discarded objects. Jane's work attempts to draw attention to the amount of waste that we produce as humans. By presenting it back to her audience as something beautiful, she hopes to make people more aware of what they are throwing away, and its potential for reuse. Jane has exhibited nationally and international and received numerous commissions, residencies and awards including the Sculpture by the Sea 2009 NBA Kid’s Choice Award.
This workshop is suitable for adults and children over 6 years of age. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Adults do not need to pay if they are not making a sculpture. Materials provided.
