HSC Intensive: Drawing and Sculpture- Combining Two Practices
11 Mar 2018 - 11 Mar 2018
Explore the relationship between two and three-dimensional forms, investigating the relationship between drawing or painting, and sculpture.
Students will study a series of artists whose sculptural work is closely related to their drawing or painting practice. Through investigating the relationship between these arts practices, students will gain a deeper understanding of form, and also acquire a broader skill set through the creation of a small body of work that includes both a sculptural object and a finished two-dimensional work.
The tutor, Matthew Bromhead, has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from COFA, UNSW. His practice includes drawing painting and sculpture and he exhibits regularly in solo, group and award exhibitions including: Lapis Leisurely, 2016, solo exhibition at Bathurst Regional Gallery; Sculpture by the Sea, 2014, Cottlesloe, WA; Paddington Art Prize, 2017, Sydney, NSW. He has also undertaken residencies at Bundanon in 2012, 2013 and 2014, a Hill End artist residency in 2015 and a CAMAC arts centre residency in France 2017.
