Sutherland Memorial School of Arts hosts the Australia's Silent Film Festival

The heritage Sutherland School of Arts sets the perfect scene to enjoy the artistry of the great movies from the silent film era. Presented by Australia's Silent Film Festival this festival hosts a series of digitally restored classic silent films accompanied with live music just like the originals.

Matinee Sessions

The Bank (1915) Charlie Chaplin plays the janitor in love with a pretty bank secretary but her sweetheart is another Charles, the cashier. Charlie dreams he saves Edna in an attempted bank robbery.

Shanghaied (1915) Charlie Chaplin plays The Tramp who is shanghaied on to a ship that is destined to be scuttled unless the captain’s stowaway daughter can stop her father and save her lover, the Tramp.

Three Ages (1923) This silent comedy of truly epic proportions follows Buster Keaton’s hard-luck romantic adventures throughout world history: from the dawn of man in the Stone Age, through the gladiatorial arenas of Ancient Rome, to the city streets of the American Jazz Era.

Evening Sessions

7th Heaven (1927): Starring Janet Gaynor and Charles Farrell - Director: Frank Borzage. As the title of this beautiful film implies, it is a love story about a couple who are ‘in seventh heaven’ together – but also while apart, when World War I calls all men to arms for several years.

Matinee: $15 includes snack & beverage
