Terms and Conditions for hiring the Sutherland Memorial School of Arts

1. A booking contract will be issued to the Hirer and must be completed, signed and returned along with a deposit of $150.00 for a single day booking or $450.00 for a multi-day booking.

2. In the event of a cancellation a deposit may only be refunded if another booking for that day is secured.  An administrative charge and applicable fee will be deducted.

3. Hire rates do not include the services of a lighting and/or sound technician. Contact details for suitable technicians can be obtained from the Sutherland Entertainment Centre.

4. At the conclusion of a performance event(s) a charge of $300.00 will be applied for resetting of the lighting and sound equipment, being the standard lighting rig, sound desk and checking all production equipment following its use.

5. The Sutherland Memorial School of Arts may exercise discretion in acceptance of bookings and may negotiate additional conditions of hire.

6. Hirers are responsible for any keys issued to them and will be held liable in the event of any or all keys being lost for the replacement of ALL lock barrels of the School of Arts and cutting of 3 sets of replacement keys. The keys are to be returned the following business day after your event to the Sutherland Entertainment Centre during office hours. Our business hours are Monday to Friday 9.00am-4.30pm. For every 24 hours that the keys are not returned, a late return fee equivalent to an additional hold day rental will be charged.

7. Hirers are responsible for ensuring that the premises are left in a clean condition with rubbish removed into bins, chairs returned to the basic theatre configuration, all lights and air-conditioning switched off, all doors and windows are closed and locked and that the alarm is switched on. Failure to comply with any of these conditions WILL result in an additional cleaning fee and/or replacement of damaged property fee being charged.

9. FIRE REGULATIONS - Emergency exits MUST be kept clear at ALL times. You are required to comply with all existing fire regulations. Theatrical sets may only be erected of materials permitted by such regulations and be suitably fire proofed. You are not permitted to bring onto the premises any flammable material or paint. Fireworks or pyrotechnics are not to be used.

10. CONSUMPTION AND SALE OF ALCOHOL - All liquor licence applications on property owned or under the care control and management of Council shall be approved by Council before lodgement with the Office of Liquor and Gaming. The requirements of the Liquor Licenses on Council Property Policy take precedence over other minimum requirements, such as those of a Liquor Licence.

11. Prior written approval is necessary if alcoholic beverages are to be sold and/or consumed on the premises. Only once written approval is obtained from Council approving the consumption and/or sale of liquor may a suitable liquor license be obtained from the Office of Liquor, Gaming and Racing. At all times where liquor is to be consumed on Council premises Responsible Service of Alcohol conditions will apply.

12. PUBLIC LIABILITY INSURANCE - All hirers of the Sutherland Memorial School of Arts are obliged to carry a $10 million dollar Public Liability Insurance policy and show evidence of cover at the time of booking by providing a Certificate of Currency on which Sutherland Shire Council is noted as an interested party.

13. All Hirers are to vacate the premises no later than midnight.
