JORDAN KENNY - Premiere Performance Thursday 6 August 7pm
MITB Jordan Kenny

With a beatnik’s flair; Sydney based artist Jordan Kenny crafts a contemporary yet nostalgic energy, reminiscent of the iconic 1960s. After releasing his debut EP back in 2018 to much acclaim and returning from an exclusive performance backed by the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, he continually reaffirms his natural place as a performer. Featuring hints of a folky quirkiness and a kindling poetic voice, Kenny’s eclectic writing style is artfully composed with forward-thinking kindness and complexity.

Elise Boland MITB

Up and coming independent artist, Elysaé, is a singer/songwriter with a passion for storytelling and expression of the human experience through music.

’Blinded’, her debut single, is an edgy, indie pop number produced and engineered by Luke Carra (Caravãna Sun) and Ian Prichett (Angus & Julia Stone, The Beautiful Girls, Kim Churchill) with an uplifting, anthemic feel. Having drawn from both personal and witnessed experience of low selfconfidence and external validation, it is a call to reclaim your personal power and embrace your uniqueness.

Elysaé developed her love for music and songwriting as a young child, initially beginning with learning piano at the age of 6. As time went on, she discovered the power of using music as a tool for healing and self-expression.

Most notably, Elysaé recently performed at Australian Music Week 2019 alongside Alysha Brilla, Boomchild and the Carbons, with the festival headlined by Aussie favourites, Alex Lahey and Ali Barter.

Having spent the last few years collaborating, songwriting and more recently, in production, she is excited to start sharing this new music.

Jess Spahr image

Jess Spahr isn’t your run of the mill musician. She picked up the violin at the age of 6, going on to train as a classical violinist. Young Jess started winning eisteddfods all around Sydney, receiving countless awards and high fives along the way.

Realising how much she loved the world of music, she delved into studying vocal and piano.

Her inspiration for writing started later in life after many heart breaks.
"There is such a paradox when you get your heart broken; Firstly, it is absolutely awful and heart wrenching. Secondly, it is the best fodder for music. I am a total Taylor Swift wannabe, haha," says Jess

After releasing her first EP Wilderness in 2018, she sat back and wrote some tunes that she says compliment her upbeat personality more. This lead to the release of her three singles Tensions, Bring Me Down To My Knee and her most recent Art of Leaving.

Tensions and Art of Leaving were released on Triple J Unearthed charts reaching No 1 and No 2 in the ratings.

Jess toured Europe last year and is set to return for another European tour in Summer 2021.

JACKSON CARROLL - Performance Thursday 21 May 7pm

MITB Jackson-Carroll-web

Jackson Carroll unveiled his new single, Happyman recently. It’s the perfect song to demonstrate Carroll’s versatility as a songwriter and performer. Known for injecting his music with an earthy richness that pulls from a blues-influenced emotional centre, Happyman puts Carroll in an up-tempo and shining songwriting space. Taken from his forthcoming EP Name It After Me, Happyman’ is a great entry point for newcomers to his sound, while a great progression for longtime fans to get around.

“It is more of a song about hope than happiness. It’s about trying to get to a happy place, to become a happy person. It’s more about desire and looking for desire in your immediate surroundings, looking for desire in other people.” - Jackson Carroll

Jackson’s growth as a songwriter is evident throughout the Name It After Me EP. Previous releases have seen him compared to the likes of Matt Corby and Jeff Buckley, while his collection of music shows that Jackson Carroll is embracing a creative identity all his own.
