Meredith’s Family Day Care has been providing quality early education and care in partnership with Sutherland Shire Council Children’s Services since 2007. I am a highly experienced Family Day Care Educator and also a mum to two beautiful teenage children.
My service is passionate about children’s early education and creating a fun, nurturing, safe, happy and positive environment where children thrive and learn through play and discovery.
Children learn best when they feel happy and secure. Our small group environment ensures each child receives considerable one-on-one attention and a daily program tailored to their particular needs and milestones.
Our program promotes the development of children’s language and literacy, numeracy, social and emotional skills, physical development and cognitive growth. The many intentional and spontaneous activities which occur daily fosters the development of these skills.
We welcome parent and family input into our program and we encourage you to share with us your child’s current interests – it might be their favourite books or animals, or perhaps countries or customs of interest. This collaboration is an important part of your child’s learning.
I have worked with many local families during my 10 years as a Family Day Care Educator and it gives me great satisfaction to see the children grow and learn. It is incredibly rewarding catching up with families at the local shops and seeing the children I cared for as babies having grown into well-mannered and confident young people.
About my service
My Family Day Care is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (8am-4pm) and caters for children from age six weeks to six years. I am high skilled and experienced in caring for young babies, and working with families to ensure their baby care routines are transferred to care.
We enjoy a daily routine tailored to each child’s interests, including a wide range of indoor and outdoor activities as well as excursions within our community. These activities extend the child’s learning at every opportunity.
The children’s development is fostered through play and learning activities encompassing:
- Arts & crafts
- Sensory experiences
- Maths & science
- Sustainability & nature
All activities are age appropriate from developmental activities for babies through to school readiness programs for preschool age children. My service follows the only government approved framework for children under school age, the Early Years Learning Framework.
About my facilities
My Family Day Care service features dedicated modern and engaging indoor and outdoor spaces for the children’s play and learning.
It promotes the children's development through their experimentation, investigation, imagination and problem solving skills, using many different methods of play.
The indoors is spacious and air conditioned for the children’s comfort. It features a large and well-resourced reading library and various play spaces allowing for:
- creative and dramatic play
- art, craft and sensory experiences
- group time
- story time
Our two covered outdoor areas are well resourced with a wide range of activities promoting creative play, ‘messy’ play, a sandpit, cubby house, sand & water play, ‘reptile’ garden, arts & crafts, toy cars and many other resources which foster the children’s fine and gross motor development.
Our service is conveniently located opposite Sylvania Public School and is just one minute’s drive from the Princes Highway. Our location is perfect for those travelling along the Princes Highway, Port Hacking Road and/or Box Road for their commute to work.
