I am proud to have worked in the early education & care industry for the past 10 years, and as an Educator with Sutherland Shire Council Family Day Care for six years.
I was born in Brazil and came to Australia in 2005. I am married and we have a 9 year old daughter. Despite a desire to be a teacher since I was a little girl, my career took a different path and I enjoyed an extended time working in Human Resources in Brazil. I needed a change and arriving in Australia presented the perfect opportunity.
Soon after commencing the Advanced Diploma in Children's Services in Sydney, I started at a childcare centre in Alexandria, then nine months later in their newly opened centre in Mascot where I was offered a room leader position. I left this childcare centre in 2009 to open a Family Day Care - initially as part of the Marrickville scheme. In June 2011 I moved to the Sutherland Shire and began working as an Educator at this scheme from October 2011.
Working at a childcare centre gave me a sense of the industry, but having a Family Day Care… that is amazing! I love being around children and having a small group makes a real difference.
About my service
The ability to work with and nurture a small group of children gives me the opportunity to develop a strong relationship with the children and their families .This relationship is reflected in the daily program and learning experiences provided for each child, which reflects his/her interests, needs and strengths.
My Family Day Care service also provides consistency in care - you and your child are greeted each day by one Educator whom you know well. The small, secure and nurturing environment allows all children (shy or outgoing) to thrive and shine. It is the perfect foundation for children's learning.
Our daily program encompasses learning and education through play including:
- Story time, songs & rhyme
- Arts & crafts
- Sensory experiences
- Cultural experiences
- Community excursions & engagement
- Nature play
- Outdoor play including climbing and balancing to build gross motor skills
- Creative & dramatic play
- Sustainability education
- Social/emotional development
- Language development
I provide a portfolio for each child in care, containing photos, art work, observations and theory which provides families with an holistic view of the learning experiences and fun moments their children experience. The portfolios are also a beautiful treasure for parents to keep and enjoy.
About my facilities
My Family Day Care service is located in a very quiet street in Kirrawee, directly off President Avenue.
The children enjoy a huge grassed level backyard, where they run, play and enjoy many resources including a climbing structure, balancing equipment, sand pit, water play, bikes, children's bikes, hoops, balls, a small slide and tending to the herb garden. We even have our very own pet rabbit which the children love to cuddle!
The outdoors also features a large shaded structure for the children's protection.
The indoors is modern and spacious, with many play and educational resources available for the children's learning and enjoyment - an extensive library of wonderful books, dress ups, puzzles, games, toys, a tree house, farmyard activities and much more.
Our indoor areas include the main Family Day Care playroom, a sun room and children's sleep room.
The dedicated, quiet sleep room, located just off the main Family Day Care room, is air conditioned for the children's comfort.
