As a young adult I found myself very much wanting to work with young children. I began working in the Early Childhood sector at age 21. It all started as a casual job. My love of the industry continued as I took on my traineeship to complete a Certificate III in Early Childhood and also a Diploma in Children's Services.
For more than five years I worked in Early Education Centres and After School Care services. During this time I gained experience in many roles and responsibilities - from programming specifically for children's interest and needs, conducting observations for individual children’s development and preparing nutritional meals. I also took on leadership roles, working as second in charge (2IC).
I have so much fun and really love this industry. The joy of working with young children and watching them grow each day through learning and curiosity is incredibly rewarding.
My childcare career temporarily stopped for few years when I had my own beautiful children.
Starting my own Family Day Care service has been a wonderful professional journey. Each day is exciting and rewarding. I also enjoy the collaborative approach we have with families in my service regarding their child's learning and development.
My Family Day Care service has been operating in the Sutherland Shire for more than four years. During this time I have provided high quality early education and care to many local families. Many families with children of school age return to my service when siblings come along.
Families experience a great sense of comfort knowing their little ones are spending their time in a warm, nurturing and safe small group environment which fosters their learning.
About my service
At Rhonda’s Family Day Care, my philosophy is to ensure the children are safe and happy while engaged in a fun learning environment.
I work together with the families in my service to ensure their needs are met each day. Communication with families plays a major part of my Family Day Care service. Parents are welcome to call or text to find out how their child’s day is going, forming a closer bond for the parents as well. It provides peace of mind while they are at work.
Each day I engage the children in activities which support their learning and development including fine and gross motor skills, cognitive development, literacy skills, self-help skills, and social and emotional development.
The children participate in a wide range of activities throughout the day. They enjoy creative arts and crafts, story time, singing, sports, yoga, cooking and much more. My goal is to ensure the children have a happy and fun day through play and learning.
About my facilities
My service operates in a space converted and devoted specifically for Family Day Care. The sole Family Day Care use makes it special for the children, who have ownership of this physical environment.
The children enjoy our spacious indoor area with a great variety of activities set up for the day. The indoor play space opens up to a lovely leafy courtyard with plenty of natural shade where the children engage in outdoor activities. The courtyard and the indoor room are connected in a way whereby the children can utilise both spaces when the weather is nice.
We also have a separate sleeping area for babies and children which does not comprise the space in our play area for those children who require different sleep times.
My Family Day Care is located in a quiet area in Cronulla, very close to Cronulla Public school and within walking distance to Cronulla mall and train station.
