Sutherland Shire Council encourages film projects in the Shire and adheres to the Local Government Filming Protocol 2009.
There is a long history of filming in the shire including the following productions: 40,000 Horsemen (1940), Rats of Tobruk (1944), Storm Boy (1978), Mad Max 3 (1984), Muriels Wedding (1995), Farscape (2003), White Collar Blue (2002/2003)
All film projects and still photography shoots are subject to fees and charges (see below).

Fees and Applications
All film projects and still photography shoots are subject to Sutherland Shire Council's fees and charges. Fees and charges applicable to 30/6/2012 are:
Ultra 10 or less crew Low Nil
Low Impact 11-25 crew $170.00
Medium Impact 26-50 Crew $340.00
High Impact 50+ Crew + trucks $570.00
Photo Shoot $95.00
Students No fees (Conditions apply - contact the film liaison officer)
Please note: The above fees are for standard filming. Large or unique applications may incur additional fees. Venue fees may be incurred. Please contact our film liaison officer for further clarification if required.
