After the decision is made

After Sutherland Shire Council make a decision on a development application, the following information may be relevant to the proposal.

Certification

If your proposal involves building works, you are likely to need a construction certificate before you can start work. You can obtain one of these from the council's Certification Unit, or from a privately accredited professional.

Modification of consents

Sometimes an applicant may need to make changes to a development consent, such as changing the plans or the council's conditions of consent. Before making these changes, you need to apply for a modification of development consent.

Review of a decision

If you are unhappy with the council's decision about your development application, you may be able to apply for a review of determination.

Lapsing, surrender or extension of consents

Consents are normally valid for a limited time. Sometimes an applicant may wish to surrender a consent or apply to extend a consent by 1 year.

Bond Payment

If your development consent requires payment of a bond before construction can commence, you can do so through our Customer Service Centre.

What Happens Next?

Before starting building work, you will usually need to apply for a Construction Certificate, appoint a Principal Certifying Authority, and notify the council that building work will start. Visit Construction for more information.
