Development Applications
Development applications (DAs) need to be lodged with the council for many different types of building work and other development. If you need development consent for your proposal, you are not allowed to start work until you get that consent.

What is permissible with Development Consent?
Use council's Development Enquirer to find the planning controls for development types that are permissible with Development Consent on a particular site.
The council's decision on your development proposal is governed largely by the planning controls that apply to the land. These planning controls allow the council to approve many applications, while others need to be refused.

Detailed information about the planning rules and regulations that apply throughout the Shire is available from our list of Development Requirements.
