Elevated Walkway

A new elevated stairway will be constructed to provide safe access between Shiprock Road and the waterfront. The walkway will be constructed from a combination of aluminium, formed plastics and hardwood, with on-ground landings utilising recycled hewn sandstone blocks recovered from the site. Signage will be installed to provide interpretive information on the littoral rainforest, local Aboriginal heritage, the Shiprock Aquatic Reserve and the bequest from Mrs Sinclair.

Shiprock Aquatic Reserve

The existing concrete platforms at the waterfront will be reconstructed using recycled sandstone blocks from the reserve. A trash net will be installed at the outlet of the stormwater pipeline to catch rubbish before it enters the Aquatic Reserve.

Vegetation

The existing remnant littoral rainforest trees on the reserve will be protected. Revegetation works will be carried out on the understorey to reduce silt run-off to Shiprock Aquatic Reserve.
