Sutherland Shire Council invites you to share A Day at the Beach this Australia Day with family and friends. A Day at the Beach starts at 1pm and finishes at 9pm with a Grand Fireworks Finale.

Train service

Trains on the Cronulla line run every 15 minutes until midnight on Sunday 26 January 2014. To look up timetables and plan your trip visit or call 131500.

Shire Shuttle - operating on Australia Day

This Shire Shuttle is a free service will operate this Australia Day between 11:15pm and 3:40am.

Pickups are available at the following locations, but passengers can also flag down the bus anywhere along the route:

Cronulla -
Kingsway at northern end of Cronulla Plaza and opposite Train Station  at Monro Park
Caringbah - Kingsway opposite Train Station (eastbound) and Kingsway east of Mackay Street (westbound)
Miranda - Kingsway, outside Miranda Hotel
Gymea -  Gymea Bay Rd - outside Gymea Hotel (northbound), outside Vinyl Room (southbound)
Sylvania - Princes Highway slip road (outside Hotel Bottleshop)
Sutherland - The final run of the night will depart Sutherland at the bus interchange on East Parade (western side of station)

Secure taxi ranks

Cronulla - taxis will depart from the Kingsway, Cronulla at the end of the Plaza.
Sutherland - taxis will depart from Boyle Street, Sutherland from 9pm to 4am.

Food and beverages

In addition to the local cafés and restaurants, food and drink will be available for purchase from Cronulla Rotary who will be selling hot lamb rolls and sausage sandwiches.

All proceeds will go to the Australia Day charity Dandelion Support Network.


Most parks and open spaces in Sutherland Shire are Alcohol Prohibited Areas.  Police and authorised council officers can tip out or confiscate alcohol.

In the park

Colbrow Medics will be available in the first aid tent.

Please bring low rise chairs only and picnic blankets to allow everyone to enjoy the view.

If you bring a BBQ to the event it must be kept away from paths and access ways. Please also check for fire restrictions on the day.

Set up

Council will commence set up for Australia Day at Cronulla Beach between 7am - 5pm Wednesday 23 - Saturday  25 January 2014. Pack down will be between 7am - 5pm Monday 27 - Tuesday  28 January 2014.
